Physical Education

In Lindon Bennett School we know that every moment is a learning moment and promoting movement in young children can help increase memory, perception, language, attention, emotion, behaviour and even decision making.

All our pupils receive a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum to meet their full potential and become happy and successful learners.

Our aim is to provide all children with fun and engaging activities so that they gain confidence, develop their fitness and wider abilities, and create healthy attitude which motivates them to participate in physical activity, to the best of their ability, throughout their life.

Opportunities we provide:

  • 1-2 PE lessons with a specialist SEND PE Teacher
  • Morning and afternoon shake-break movement activities to support readiness to learn in classrooms
  • Daily Mile to get pupils active with friends in the fresh air
  • Swimming activities in our hydro-pool led by a swimming teacher
  • Enrichment and topic-based PE activities to enhance learning
  • Dance Sessions provided by our partner – 4Motion Dance Company
  • Access to 6 playgrounds and specialist sensory rooms offering a range of sporting equipment
  • Specialist PE sessions run by Middlesex Cricket and Panathlon Uk
  • Inter-school festival organised by our partner Sport Impact
  • Activities in a wider community (Companion Cycling at Bushy Park, Football at Powerleague, Bowling at Tenpin Feltham, Climbing at White Spider)

And lots more…

Our dynamic, high-quality PE curriculum is based on the understanding of what the individual pupil needs. Comfort, security and stimulation are also accounted for to help each pupil enjoy and succeed in many kinds of physical activities – tailored to their needs and abilities.

  • We want them to be motivated to actively explore the world of sport by providing fun and exciting activities.
  • We want them to be competent to explore the world of sport by providing physio/ OT and skill based sessions.
  • We want them to be confident in active play by providing communication tools, setting up social situations and participation in local sporting opportunities.
  • We want them to develop independence by providing them with choices to allow a sense of empowerment.
  • We want them to develop self-belief to take on challenges by creating sport-leadership opportunities and trying out new sports.
  • We want them to smile and be happy by providing yoga and relaxation activities and celebrating success whenever it occurs.

To ensure an appropriate, individualised curriculum, we follow a rigorous and accurate assessment procedure that informs teaching, drives the recording of progress and is key to the successful physical education of our learners.

PE Kit

It is essential that all children wear a PE kit when taking part in their lessons, as per Lindon Bennett’s PE Policy. Please ensure that your child is provided with a suitable change of clothes that will be kept at school and sent home half-termly to be washed. It should consist of the following:

  • Navy Blue or Black tracksuit bottoms or shorts
  • Plain white T-shirt or polo T-shirt
  • Sports trainers or plimsolls

Thank you, in advance, for your support in ensuring child is well equipped for PE lessons.
